Ernstjan Rutten

Ernstjan Rutten graduated as a tax lawyer from the University of Tilburg in 1996.  He also taught tax law at that University in the academic year 1995-1996.  In September 1996, he started his professional career as a tax lawyer at Arthur Andersen.  After the collapse of Andersen in 2002, Ernstjan joined Ernst & Young, where he spent the first four years as a member of the international tax advisory practice group in the Netherlands.  In 2006, he continued his work at the Moscow offices of Ernst & Young.  Ernstjan has been a partner in Taxperience since 2010.

Over the course of his professional career, Ernstjan serviced a variety of clients, from start-ups to multinationals.  During his stay in Moscow, Ernstjan developed a passion for the Eastern European market, particularly Russia.  In order to be able to operate in that region, Ernstjan accumulated a thorough knowledge of the market and combined that knowledge with a great measure of creativity and flexibility.

Ernstjan always works towards a solution without in any way compromising on the quality of his work.  The spearheads of his expertise are national and international structuring operations, negotiating advance tax rulings and other deals with Dutch and non-Dutch tax authorities, and coordinating multi-discipline and/or multi-jurisdictional projects.

When off-duty, Ernstjan likes to travel and exercise, with skiing being his absolute first love.  He also enjoys a good book from time to time and can be easily persuaded to go out for drinks or dinner.
